Four Noble Truths #7

Studiemorning with Lama Jigme

During this series of lectures Lama Jigme Namgyal will discuss the subject: Four Noble Truths. These teachings can be followed separate or as a series.

The Buddha’s message is universal. We all search for happiness but somehow we fail to find it because we are looking for it in the wrong way. Only when we develop an altruistic mind true happiness can grow within us. And therefore, the Buddha’s essential teaching is one of ethics and compassion, combined with the wisdom that understands the nature of reality. The teachings of the Buddha contain everything needed to eliminate suffering and make life truly meaningful. After the Buddha reached enlightenment 2500 years ago, the very first teaching he gave was “Setting the Wheel of Dharma in Motion” (also called “First Turning of the Wheel of Dharma”), or more simply put “the Four Noble Truths”. In these Four Noble Truths the Buddha explains that 1. there is suffering, 2. that there is a cause for this suffering, 3. that the cause of suffering can be eliminated and in the Fourth Truth he explains how this can be done.

Lama Jigmé will explain these Four Noble Truths in a very practical, and comprehensive way. With his thorough knowledge of Tibetan Buddhism as well as both the Buddhist and Western culture he teaches in a very practical way so that also people without a deeper understanding of Buddhism can easily relate to this topic. At the end of each session there will be the opportunity to ask Lama Jigmé questions regarding this topic.
